So much of the charm & beauty of animated shows like The Simpsons season 1-8, Hey Arnold, Batman TAS, Superman TAS, Pinky & Brain etc comes from the cel animation & actual non computerized ink & paint. I miss that aesthetic. It’ll be a lost art
So much of the charm & beauty of animated shows like The Simpsons season 1-8, Hey Arnold, Batman TAS, Superman TAS, Pinky & Brain etc comes from the cel animation & actual non computerized ink & paint. I miss that aesthetic. It’ll be a lost art Computerized animation has its place and is no doubt cheaper but damn did we have to do away with the entire aesthetic of traditional ink & paint? Look at the shows I mentioned. An episode of Batman TAS such as “Heart of Ice” has beautiful hand drawn on cels animation. And it’s beautiful. Actual paint was brushed on those cels, one frame at time...
