LPT: If you suspect that there's an intruder in your home, don't turn on the light, instead use a flashlight that has a strobe function It's not obvious at first, but you are actually at an advantage in the dark because you are more familiar with your house than the intruder. Having the flashlight allows you to see when you need to, and the strobe will disorient any potential intruder which makes them easier to incapacitate.
