Finance safer newer car at slightly more than current ownership cost? My wife drives 25,000 miles / 40,000 km per year. She has a 2011 prius that has 197,000 miles. It gets 40 miles/gal. We'll say 3 oil changes per year at ~$90 each =$270. No major issues. Assuming like $3.10/gal it's $1900 for gas for an annual cost of ownership of $2170.
