LPT: When painting, tie up your paint tins. If you're painting while on a stepladder, and using the top step for the paint tin, tie a couple of cords of twine through the paint tin handle and the top bar of the ladder, it'll stop your paint spattering all over the floor if the tin gets accidentally knocked.
