LPT: Dirty Hands from Gardening? Don’t Use the Kitchen Sink. If your hands are dirty from gardening or other activities involving actual dirt, use the bathroom sink instead of the kitchen sink. Dirt and minerals can ruin the seals on your garbage disposal, shortening its life span. So use the bathroom sink instead. Obviously, if you don’t have a garbage disposal, wash away!
