When in my trip does US customs clearance occur? I'm traveling from Malta (Europe) to D.C. with a 1 hour layover in Istanbul. Non-U.S. citizen. I've been to the U.S. before but I can't remember as it's been a while - does anyone know when I'd have to go through U.S. customs / DHS check?
