$300 tax on $1000 USD. Help me understand this US Tax.
$300 tax on $1000 USD. Help me understand this US Tax. I recently visited a conferene in the US and I was given $1000 USD travel grant which was suppode to come to my Canadian account. But when I checked, I only recieved $700 as they deducted $300 taxes on the sum. I am so surprised so see this much tax. I am a tax pay in Canada. Is it normal to get taxed so much on a travel grant? Thanks
