LPT: Check the renewal date on your passport today. You actually lose 3-6 months because the airlines require a buffer period AND the State Department requires approx 3 months to process. FOAF (friend of a friend) got bounced at the airport because they didn't have 90 days grace period left in their passport. If you're planning on taking a vacation out of the country, check your passport before you buy tickets.
