My credit card was fraudulently maxed out hours after activating it. How is this even possible? Brand new card, straight from the shipping envelope into my wallet, activated it shortly before using it to check into a hotel. My card was declined at checkout because the balance was maxed out from purchases hundreds of miles away. It had not left my wallet in the interim and has never been used online in any fashion.
