In prestige dramas with adult siblings, the youngest is almost always the screwup, while the older one is responsible. But when it’s underage siblings, the younger one is usually uncommonly intelligent while the older one is just a normal screwup teen. Why?
In prestige dramas with adult siblings, the youngest is almost always the screwup, while the older one is responsible. But when it's underage siblings, the younger one is usually uncommonly intelligent while the older one is just a normal screwup teen. Why? They all do this, and its basically a trope at this point. Is there some fundamental narrative advantage to having a precocious child, an unruly teen, a drug-addicted/psychologically struggling 20 something, or an over-burdened 40 something on a show?
