Do I need to pay sales tax if I exercise the option to buy back my car which is deemed totaled by the insurance company? My car was involved in an accident and was deemed totaled. I live in Texas. I have the option to repurchase the car (it still runs fine)-owner retained salvage. Not sure what steps I need to take. Do I need to pay sales tax again? Get it inspected for the road?
