LPT Request: How to save money and find cheap hotels/motels to stay in while traveling? I make a 16-hour drive twice a year to visit family. We've been trying to find ways to minimize the costs of having to find a room. Even a slimy motel is still costing us over $100 when we check in at 3am in the morning. We've tried negotiating, or looking for "members" or reward points for chains - but nothing seems to reduce the cost of a bed....
