You’ll want to clear away from the tracks altogether (perpendicularly) as much as possible as well, of course. The common instinct when fleeing the vehicle is to run away from (i.e. in the traveling direction of) the train as it approaches, however 1) the train will catch up to you in that direction anyway and most importantly 2) when it collide...
