Uninstall Google Maps Download and install Google Maps 10.16.3 (nodpi) (Android 5.0+) from Apkmirror . com Open the App and the blue beam should work, if it doesn't, close it and reopen the app.
The only version that seems to work is this one released on May 22, 2019. None of the newer one...
